• Applications: you are a professional jeweller, you use a lens (a jeweller's loupe) but you want to show your customers their watch / jewellery repair and they don't know how to use a loupe. Show them the image on the screen, do this at the counter, no no need to set everything up on a full-size microscope. Take a snapshot and save it to a micro-SD card; routinely keep images of repairs before-and-after; keep records of serial numbers laser-engraved on diamonds. Smaller (and cheaper!) than a digital microscope. 
  
  
• The photos: the first few photos show the magnifier, and also how the design allows you to see inside small spaces such as marks in ring shanks, or even serial numbers on the girdles of diamonds. The last few photos have been saved to a memory card - a twenty pound note and a Second Class stamp. These photos have not been enhanced! 
• Features:  small enough to hold in the palm of your hand, can be worn round the neck, powerful light (also has a UV light), 3 magnifications (7X, 11X, 15X), USB lead included for charging, takes micro SD-card (not supplied) for saving images. Best of all, it has a pointy camera that you can insert into awkward spaces.

With most magnifiers (simple lenses) magnification and working distance are related: high magnification lenses are always small, large lenses are always low magnification, that's simply how the rules of optics work. This digital loupe is not a simple lens! It's a tiny (high power) lens in a camera with a huge (for a pocket loupe) LCD screen.
