Details
Silver is not magnetic. However it is 'diamagnetic' - a sliding magnet sets up an 'electrical field' which you can detect with suitable magnets.
These magnets are 'suitable' because of their size and power, read all about it.
Sizes:
3 X 1mm, neodymium
7 X 4mm, neodymium
10 X 2mm, neodymium
20 X 5 X 2mm, neodymium
8 X 4mm, iron
IMPORTANT
Copper reacts the same way as silver (though the effect isn't as strong), so this test will not tell you if you have a copper coin plated with silver. YOU STILL NEED A SILVER TESTER to be certain.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
Hi.Can the Magnet test for silver be used for jewellery as well as coins? (already purchased the liquid tester some time ago from yourselves). Would you be able to send them out first class today (need to send to Italy) Regards Anna
No, only flat objects. You must see how the magnet slides down the object, see TESTING METALS WITH MAGNETS.
If ordered online and paid by 13:00 GMT today, we can send it today. But the last posting date for Christmas (to Italy) was Monday so it's unlikely it will arrive in time for Christmas.

Is this a strong magnet?
This is a set of magnets, they are neodymium, they are the strongest for the size. They are not large – large magnets would not work for this purpose.
