2X Magnification, 80mmX80mm lens, handle can tilted, four super-bright L.E.D. lights.I would recommend this as a good general purpose reader for those just beginning to lose their sight, it certainly gives more than 'just a little help' though those with severe sight problems may wish to try something stronger. For me, this is my favourite. The combination of large lens and powerful evenly-illuminated light makes it a pleasure to use.To read an article about magnification click here More...

Hand Reader with light, Main lens 2X mag, 95X47mm, inset 6X mag, 20mm dia, Folding handle, pouch. For those who need 'just a little help' with reading (including map reading in the car at night) this is a good choice, it folds neatly into its case, many on my 'testing panel' liked this, they said it worked for them, they said some of the more expensive magnifiers were 'too strong". A massive 130mm (5 inches) diameter lens. But what is so good about this magnifier is its lightweight construction, it is SO lightweight that you can hold it for ages without straining. According to the packaging this is 2.5X magnification, so that is exactly how I describe it. Technically, they are correct, but it's only that powerful if you hold the object more than arms-length from the lens. When the object is closer, the magnification is less. But it doesn't matter, it is beautiful to use, I use one of these myself, for magazines with exceptionally small print, because the lens is huge and shows me most of the page a glance. A lightweight 5X lens of exceptional quality. In my opinion there really isn't much to choose between this and the Zeiss VisuLook (see below) at £49.00. Compared with the rest-on-page magnifiers this is smaller and more powerful and lighter in weight. But do remember that high power / small size means you will only be able to read three or four words a time. To read an article about magnification click here

5X 65mm Slightly larger than the 5X50 listed above, slightly better in quality, and Zeiss is famous for making the best lenses. So if you need something that is lightweight and that gives maximum magnification for reading and is the best lens - then go for this one. Of course, what I CAN'T say is - do you want to spend £49.00. As with all magnifiers of this strength, you will only be able to read 2 or 3 words at a time, there is no choice about this. 5X 50It's so powerful that you will only see 3 or 4 words at a time, but if you have very poor eyesight (or wish to read the VERY tiny print on forms and on supermarket packaging) and don't see why you should spend much money, then this is a good choice. 7X 50The most powerful of all, but at this power you will only be able to read 1 or 2 words at a time (that's how lenses work, there is no choice about it, the more powerful the lens the less you will see in area). Slim-line sheet of plastic the size of a page that lights up from the inside. Illuminated area measures 220mm X 140mm (9 inches X 5.5 inches). This is an illuminator only, it is not a magnifier, it is for those who either do not need a magnifier or who are happy with their reading spectacles.

There's nothing special about these, they are quite OK, they sell for twice the amount in car accessory shops, I have several hundred of these, hence the price. To read an article about magnification click here
