 | Jewellers rouge / Scratch-removers
Jewellers rouge is for putting that final polish onto gold and silver. It is also used in the windscreen industry for removing fine scratches from expensive windscreens, and so should be suitable for removing scratches in glass windows, shop counters and glass watch 'crystals'.
For very soft materials our 'scratch remover' is better, it's much finer - for plastics including acrylic watch 'crystals'.
Both of these compounds come in various sizes, and the rouge is available in block or powder form.
WARNING ABOUT ROUGE: this is the very same rouge used by ladies for reddening their faces (though no longer known by its generic name), it not only makes faces red, it makes EVERYTHING red, so this should not be used by anyone who is clumsy. Don't worry if it makes the gold and the underneath of gemstones red, this is quite normal, wash the item in warm soapy water when you've finished
