Most cutters are very slightly curved, this one has one edge that is absolutely flat. So if you are cutting, for instance, rivets in a bracelet, you will be cutting as close as possible to the bracelet.
Using a cutter can never cut 100% 'clean', for that you will need to cut it with a jeweller's piercing saw - but that takes skill and practice, using this cutter is the easy way.
