The price includes a brand new pen-probe at £49.50 plus the tester at £45.50 = £95.00.
The price does not include a sample of 14ct which you will need to calibrate the tester. If you deal in jewellery, use anything you are certain is 14ct (e.g. anything hallmarked); if you don't have a sample of 14ct you can buy one from us as an optional extra.
The photos are of this actual item, they are not archive photos.
Please note, we still sell pen-probes for this as a regular item.
- Original large zip-case and outer sleeve
- Original instruction manual
- Brand new pen-probe
- Battery (still in the tester, from when we checked it)
- UK mains adaptor though the connector doesn't fit the tester tightly so it will keep cutting out (the suppliers supplied them like this!)
- Steel file
Condition / returns / guarantee
This item is £95.00. The current price on the internet varies from £440.00 (from the USA, so + VAT+ customs charges), to £650.00 (in the UK). Please read the following before buying and check that you are happy with this:
The test-plate is badly scratched an corroded (see photo). If you rest the test-item on a patch of the test-plate that is not scratched or corroded, then the tester works fine. This is not ideal. This is 'uncomfortable'. This is fiddly. This is why the price is only £95.00.
Apart from the above limitations, if it is unsuitable it may be returned for refund (refund excludes postage) in 14 days from the day you take delivery.
Make sure you have a sample of gold (must be exactly 14ct), otherwise you won't be able to use this - and the tester must still be returned in 14 days if you decide you don't like it. You must pay the return postage (please use a trackable service).
The guarantee (against total breakdown) is for one month from the date you took delivery.
