The postage rates on this page are for orders placed online and paid online. All prices include VAT

Royal Mail deliver post on a Saturday but not on Sundays or bank holidays
Interlink deliver mail on Monday to Friday but not on weekends or bank holidays

In all cases, Highlands & Islands (all islands) may take longer. In all cases there might be delays if the country is hit by extreme weather, industrial disputes or other major incidents (which you will know about from the news!)

DELIVERY 2 to 3 WEEKS

Orders are usually acknowledged, by a human, in 2 or 3 days.

Postage charge is £2.50.

You will only be offered this service for lightweight orders.
The order will not be insured, do not select this service if the order is valuable.

The order might spend some time in the post, do not select this service for chemicals.

Royal Mail, 2nd Class, not signed-for, not insured. This is our 'economy' service, it is excellent value providing you are not in a hurry.

Posting schedule for 2 to 3 Week Delivery:

We really have no idea if the order will take two weeks or three weeks. Someone will (in two or three days) send you an email with an approximate dispatch date - "approximate" because if the packer runs out of time, he will put your order aside for another day. But there is some good news: you are only paying £2.08 + VAT for postage and packaging, we really cannot make it cheaper than this!

Included in the service:

- if an item is out of stock, it will automatically follow whenever it comes back into stock
- you can give us (when you place the order) special delivery instructions, e.g. "If no reply, leave at No.21"
- there are many re-delivery / collection options if you are not in when the packet is delivered (details will be on the card the postman leaves)

Not included in the service:

- the postman will not deliver to another address (except for a neighbour) if you are not in
- the postman will not telephone you
- the postman will not deliver at a time of your choice, he will deliver the goods along with your normal post
- there is no tracking facility on this service, if the postman cannot deliver the item (and you do not respond to the card he leaves) it will be returned to us, and this takes 4 to 6 weeks.

DELIVERY 3 to 6 DAYS (Are there any delays this week? Click here)

Orders are usually acknowledged, by a human, the same day.

Postage charge varies from £4.00 to £11.00 depending on the weight, but most orders cost less than £5.00.

You will only be offered this service for items up to 10Kg (for items over 10Kg you will be offered a faster service, because it will cost less).

We use Royal Mail. If we post the order the same day, we send it by 2nd Class post, otherwise we use 1st Class. We add Recorded Delivery if the value is more than nominal. The "3 to 6 days" includes Saturdays but not Sundays and bank holidays.

Posting schedule for 3 to 6 Day Delivery:

If payment is received by 5pm on Monday, the most likely delivery time is Thursday or Friday
If payment is received by 5pm on Tuesday, the most likely delivery time is Friday or Saturday
If payment is received by 5pm on Wednesday, the most likely delivery time is Saturday or early next week
If payment is received by 5pm on Thursday, the most likely delivery time is the middle of next week
If payment is received by midday on Friday, the most likely delivery time is late next week

Included in the service:

- if an item is out of stock, it will automatically follow a few days later (if the delay is more than a few days we will contact you)
- you can give us (when you place the order) special delivery instructions, e.g. "If no reply, leave at No.21"
- confirmation of delivery for Recorded items is available on the internet (useful for businesses and large households)
- there are many re-delivery / collection options if you are not in when the packet is delivered (details will be on the card the postman leaves)

Not included in the service:

- the postman will not deliver to another address (except for a neighbour) if you are not in
- the postman will not telephone you
- the postman will not deliver at a time of your choice, he will deliver the goods along with your normal post
- if the value is more than nominal we add Recorded Delivery to the service. This requires a signature, items cannot be put through the letterbox or left unattended. If you know (when you place the order) that there will be nobody available to sign for the item, tell us which neighbour you would like the postman to deliver to.

DELIVERY IN 1 to 2 WORKING DAYS (Are there any delays this week? Click here)

Internet orders are usually acknowledged, by a human, within a couple of hours.

Postage charge is £10.00 up to 10Kg, or £15.00 up to 25Kg, or £18.00 up to 30Kg.

We use the courier Interlink. There is an 80% chance that the item will arrive by 5pm the next working day (our deadline, for payment, is 4pm Monday to Thursday, or midday on a Friday). If any item is out of stock, we will email you for advice.

Posting Schedule for 1 to 2 Day Delivery service:

If payment is received by 1pm on Monday, the most likely delivery day is Tuesday (though it could be Wednesday)
If payment is received by 1pm on Tuesday, the most likely delivery day is Wednesday (though it could be Thursday)
If payment is received by 1pm on Wednesday, the most likely delivery day isThursday (though it could be Wednesday)
If payment is received by 1pm on Thursday, the most likely delivery day is Friday (though it could be Monday)
If payment is received by midday on Friday, the most likely delivery day is Monday (though it could be Tuesday)

In theory, delivery can be any time up to 5pm, but in practice the driver tends to make deliveries in the morning.

Included in the service:

Early on the day of delivery (probably between 8am and 9am) Inerlink will send you an email containing the following information:
- the name of the driver
- the estimated time of delivery (to the nearest hour)
- the delivery address (check that it’s correct)
- a button to ‘track’ the parcel
- a reminder that someone must be available to sign for the parcel
and
if you can see that nobody will be available to sign for the parcel, click the button CHANGE DATE.

Redelivery options (after the driver has left a card) are:

- to collect from the depot (there will be a map on the card)
- to select an alternative day of delivery
- to select an alternative delivery address (must be a neighbour)
- to tell the driver to leave the parcel in a safe place of your choosing (at your own risk)
- to upgrade to delivery before noon (you must pay Interlink for this extra service)

Not included in the service:

- although you will be given a delivery 'slot' to the nearest hour, the driver will not deliver at a time of your choice
- the driver will not leave the item without a signature
unless you have signed the card he left
- the driver will not deliver to another address (except for a neighbour) and the item must still be signed for
- the driver will not guarantee to leave the parcel with a particular named person

Important: nothing is ever 100% guaranteed. Over 99% of parcels arrive within two working days. This is not a 100% guarantee.

Internet orders are usually acknowledged, by a human, within a couple of hours.

We use Royal Mail Special Delivery. Dispatch is the same working day, providing payment is received by 4pm Monday to Thursday, or midday on a Friday.

Delivery is by 1pm the next working day, including Saturday if you usually receive post on a Saturday.*

If any item is out of stock we will telephone you; if we don’t have your number (or if there is no reply) we will email instead.

Posting Schedule for Next Day Delivery service:

If payment is received by 4pm on Monday, delivery will be by 1pm on Tuesday
If payment is received by 4pm on Tuesday,
delivery will be by 1pm on Wednesday
If payment is received by 4pm on Wednesday, delivery will be by 1pm on Thursday
If payment is received by 4pm on Thursday, delivery will be by 1pm on Friday
If payment is received by midday on Friday, delivery
will be by 1pm on Saturday or by 1pm on Monday*

* The idea is that if you usually receive post on a Saturday, the postman will deliver the item (e.g. residential addresses and most shops) but if he knows you are closed on a Saturday (e.g. most offices and industrial areas) he will wait until Monday. But this is entirely up to the postman. Royal mail DO have a special "Saturday Delivery" service, it is intended for business addresses where the postman has to make a special journey, we do not use this service.

- trackable on the internet
- many re-delivery / collection options if you are not in when the postman calls

VARIATIONS

We have spent many hours studying hundreds of pages of charts of postage rates from different carriers, and there are always idiosyncrasies.

Just very occasionally we notice that a price doesn't make sense, and we will upgrade the service you have requested. For instance, if your order is heavy and you have requested 3-6 Day Delivery (Royal Mail) and the order just happens to be small, and we just happen to be processing it in good time for the courier, then we will upgrade it to 1 to 2 Day Delivery (cheaper for us, faster delivery for you). Or a heavy item to be sent by Special Delivery by 1pm might be upgraded to a special courier service guaranteed before midday.

 

POSTAGE RATES AND DELIVERY TIMES (OVERSEAS)

The computer is programmed with dozens of zones and weight bands.

The only way to know the delivery time (and cost of postage) is to add the items to the Shopping Basket (Cart) and see what the computer suggests (you will be given a choice of posting methods). You don't have to complete the order, you do not have to pay, we will not ask you for money.
