ABOUT
US
We
have been selling by mail since 1986, and we also sell at
some 'trade' (mostly midweek) antiques fairs. A summary of
what we sell is on our home page.
We
do not have a shop, we do not have a showroom, but if you
know what you want and you have the money in your pocket you
are welcome to visit
us, or you can visit the QUICKTEST stand at
a fair, or we offer a Next
Day Delivery mail order service (though we also offer
slower cheaper posting methods). Anything we sell we also
buy, new or secondhand.
QUICKTEST
is small enough to be able to follow every order and to know
about every item in the storeroom, but large enough to actually stock the items listed on this web site (97% of items
are in stock at any one time) - that means you do not have
to wait while we send your order to the 'accounts department'
for approval or to the 'dispatch department' for posting,
it's all done here, in a unit on an Industrial Estate in West Watford.
THE STAFF: there is Raffi (that's me), Chris and Mac who do most
of the packing (and Chris is a whizz on the computer too), Bernice
(troubleshooting), and occasional help from Joe, Max, Ben, Daniel and Miriam. There is also Eddie who works in the
workshop making Geiger Counters.

Shipping Methods
The price depends on the weight and the delivery address. For mainland UK you will be given three options:
3 to 4 weeks: 2nd Class Post or Standard Parcel, max insurance in transit £20.00
or
4 to 7 Days: 1st Class (+ Recorded if valuable) or Courier, fully insured
or
Usually Next Day: £10.00, Special Delivery or Courier, fully insured

Payment Methods
Credit Card, Debit Card or Nochex:
- you will be forwarded to the secure payment system of NOCHEX (we never see your card details). Cards accepted from UK, Canada, USA, Australia & NZ, and most of Europe. We are notified of your payment immediately.
Pay with cash (PayOffline):
- you will be emailed an invoice with a barcode, take it to any one of 17,000 Payzones (or any Post Office as from October), they will scan the barcode and take your money. You can pay by cash or debit card. We are notified of your payment in two working days.
We send invoice then you send payment then we send goods:
- for larger companies that need to submit the invoice to their Accounts Department before a cheque can be raised.
Bank Transfer (we will send you our bank details)
- most banks now operate the FASTER PAYMENTS system, you log into YOUR bank account to make the transfer, we receive the money within two hours, no personal information is passed to us, and your bank will not charge you for the service. Details http://www.quicktest.co.uk/BankTransfers.htm
Cheque or Postal Order

Returns Policy
In the unlikely event of any item not meeting your requirements it may be returned for exchange, credit or refund (your choice). NEW ITEMS must be returned (posted) to us within 14 days, SECONDHAND ITEMS must be returned (posted) within 7 days.
The above does NOT apply if you have bought goods at internet auction, that is the nature of auctions as opposed to buying from us directly, you cannot return them; neither does it apply to wholesale purchases (these are clearly marked both in the paper catalogue and on the web site); neither does it apply to any item that has been purchased at our office or an antiques fair.
Postage and packaging and any incidental expenses (e.g. travelling expenses if you call at the office or entrance fee if you visit us at a fair) are not refundable, if you think this is unfair please do not proceed with this order.

Guarantee
In addition to the above, most items are guaranteed by us for one year, though some very cheap items are guaranteed for three months (this will be clearly stated in the item description). Acids have a shelf life of between one and two years (about one year from the date of manufacture printed on the bottle label).

Privacy Policy
OUR DATBASE: in most cases the only information we hold is your name and address, plus telephone number and email address if you have given them to us. We often keep copies of letters and sometimes notes of telephone conversations - copies available (by mail) upon request.
OUR ACCOUNTS SYSTEM: invoices and credit notes are kept for two years, copies are free. Your name, address, telephone and email should match the record in our database.
WE DO NOT STORE ANY CREDIT CARD DETAILS ON THE COMPUTER (in fact, when you pay online we never get to see any credit card details).
We use EQUIFAX to guarantee cheques. If your cheque is returned unpaid we must provide EQUIFAX with your name and address, and they will record this information and use it to decide whether to guarantee your present and future cheques. Equifax may share their information with their Credit Reference division and subscribers to their Credit Reference division in order to evaluate applications for credit made by you and family members of your household in order to manage credit facilities held by you and family members of your household. EQUIFAX will charge you a fee if your cheque is dishonoured.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
SHIPPING
AND HANDLING COST
As a guide, most orders weigh under 2Kg. and cost from £2.00
(non-urgent lightweight) to £10.00 (Next Day Delivery),
heavier parcels £5.00 to £10.00. The computer
cannot calculate the exact cost until you have finished ordering
because it needs to know the total weight and the shipping
destination.
Important: remember to select a SHIPPING AND HANDLING
service from the drop-down box. If you do not do this, the computer will not charge you any postage and, as a result, a human will refuse to process the order!
BACK
ORDERS
About 97% of items are in stock at any one time but it does
occasionally happen that an item is out of stock. In most cases all
items in stock will be sent immediately and out-of-stock items
will follow as soon as possible, but if you have
chosen the very cheapest SHIPPING AND HANDLING service and one
item in your order is out of stock, the entire order will
be delayed. You are, of course, welcome
to request alternative items or a refund.
TAX
CHARGES
If you select a delivery address outside the European Union
you will not be charged VAT (sales tax).
If you are registered for VAT in another EU country tick the
box IF YOU DO NOT PAY VAT, PLEASE CHECK THE BOX. You must
then enter your VAT number. These numbers are verified with
Customs & Excise. If you give us a false number you will
be asked to contact Customs & Excise and will receive
neither the goods nor a refund until the matter is resolved. This is not only a warning to fraudsters but also to inoccent customers who mis-type numbers!
CREDIT
CARD SECURITY
U.K. cards processed through NOCHEX, we never see your card number.
MORE ABOUT GUARANTEES
Electronic items have a QUICKTEST guarantee tab with the
date the guarantee ends, removal of this tab invalidates
the guarantee. See product details for guarantee period,
it's usually one year. This is separate from the 'approval
period'
