Photograph shows the magnifier fixed to a small low lamp on a 'swan neck' which gives a working distance of about 8". It would just as easily clip to a large 'angel-poise' lamp to give a longer working distance (up to 12").
I must confess, this is one of my own inventions, the lens is good but I'm struggling to find a professional-looking clip
