The model in this photograph shows the weaker of the two models (1.75X), and the photograph has not been touched up, what you see in the magnifier is real, the right hand (holding the jewellery) is just seven or eight inches away from the left hand (on the table).
The 1.75X:
For all the uses listed by the next item (the larger 1.75X) if you can't afford the larger version. For the partially-sighted, it will just about cover half of a paperback page at a time.
The 2.25X:
For fine jewellery repairs, gluing jobs, soldering, re-touching and renovation work, fine craft work etc - suitable working with smaller objects (say, up the size of a tea cup). For the partially-sighted, it will just about cover a quarter of a paperback page at a time.
