Click on picture to see another viewITEM: 3-draw, brass with main section leather-bound, sliding eye-cover over eyepiece, no lens cap over objective lens, 30 inches extended, 8 inches closed, objective lens 40mm diameter.CONDITION: there's a tiny chip on the very edge of the objective lens (see photograph, it's at 4 o'clock) and some marks on the inside (though not bad you do have to look carefully against the light to see them) - I can't quite make out if they are just 'marks' that will clean off, or if the lens is separating (if I could get the lens off I would give it a clean).Apologies for the poor photograph, long telescopes don't fit in our studio!

Click on picture to see another viewITEM: My best guess is that the maker started off with a damaged Japanese wartime 20X110 binocular, cut it in half (to use the good side), added a massive eyepiece from, maybe, a Howitzer sight, then fixed it all together with glue and string. We have rebuilt it to make it nice and solid, and added a mounting block (so that it will fit any modern photographic tripod). The visible lens measures 105mm diameter, so I assume it it actually a 110mm. I have guessed at 15X as the magnification, it might be more. The optics are clean. Dimensions (max.) 23 inches X 9 inches.

CAN.3996OPTICAL CONDITION: clean COMMENTS: complete with its sighting graticules, bulb-holder to illuminate the graticules (though there's no bulb in it), and the double filter assembly (switches to Clear, Neutral or Dark) AND (remarkably) the rubber browpad is still intact. I have also fitted a steel plate underneath so that the entire sight can be mounted onto any modern photographic tripod, but I have added this as an optional extra ("tripod adaptor"). This is because you won't need it if you are buying this purely as a collectors item and really have no intention of mounting it, or if you are an engineer and will make your own. For all these reasons, this is a little more expensive than those you normally see that are incomplete.
