Polishing is always a messy business. Instead of a flat cloth use these. Heavy duty yet nice quality cotton, use jewellers rouge (see "Jewellers Rouge" above) or any branded jewellery cleaner of your choice (I don't sell these because you have a wide choice in an department store or hardware shop).
