8X21 MONOCULAR, "Visionary" Ref: MONOC-8x21

8X21 monocular with hand strap in strong nylon pouch with belt loop.

Monocular measures 28mm diameter X 85mm long. Pouch measures 100mm X 50mm X 35mm

What I like about this is - not only is it very lightweight (easy to drop into a bag or wear on your belt...and just forget about it) but also you can fold the rubber eyecap down which enables it to be used by spectacle-wearers. Now I know that most monoculars have this feature, but with most monoculars you can't actually get your eye close enough to the eyepiece to see anything. With this one the view ('field of view') is very nearly perfect. I've never seen that on an inexpensive item before.

It also has its outer box and instruction leaflet (not pictured).

Fujinon FMTR-SX 10x50 Ref: BINFUJ10X50

Made by Fujinon to military specification for the U.S. forces. 8½" across X 8½ tall. This is good as the large Zeiss, Leica etc which sell for about £900.00 because of their light weight and latest designs...whereas this is just an old fashioned heavy binocular-shaped binocular.

Wide Angle Fixed Focus binocular Ref: bin4X22

I have always said that someone should make a low power binocular that's a PROPER binocular with high quality optics, not a plastic child's toy.

It's small enough to hold in one hand; its magnification means the field of view is terrific, you really can see everything that is going on; the huge eyepieces and large prisms give such a bright image that even those new to binoculars say, "The image is so bright, it's just dazzling!"

I would recommend this for observing any 'view' where you would like to scan the horizon to see what's going on; I would recommend this for any 'activity' where there is action, from pretty girls (or boys) on the beach to pop concerts and sporting events, they are even good for watching air displays (the anti-aircraft binoculars of WWII were 5X magnification).

Obviously there are times when you need a more powerful binocular (e.g. for observing animals and birds at great distance or ships far out to sea or astronomy) but I would recommend this if you already an expensive powerful binocular and want something small and lightweight and 'general purpose' to carry around all the time.

Compact 10X25 binocular Ref: BIN10X25

Compact roof prism design, pocket-size if you have a big pocket, popular strength (10X), as an optical enthusiast I can't get over-excited about anything with optics this small and this strong, the quality always suffers (always). That said, it's nice to have something small and strong to keep in the car or take on a walking holiday, it works well and you won't lose sleep if it gets lost.
3" across X 4.5" tall.

Compact 8X21 binocular Ref: 8X21COMP

The post popular of the little compact binoculars, cheap enough to keep as a spare even if you already have an expensive binocular, small enough to slip into a bag or pocket and forget about, 3.5" across X4.5" tall.

Incidentally, some people telehpone to ask if the quality is good. The quality is 'quite useable' but please note, this item costs only £9.50!

Smallest monocular, 2.5 X 17.5 Ref: MONOC2X17

2½X17½ MONOCULAR

The smallest monocular ever! It is so small that we send it to mail order customers packed in a little thimble box.
At 35mm long X 20mm dia, this Russian monocular really does fit in the palm of the hand.
I keep one in the car to look at roadwork signs whilst stationary in a traffic jam. Others might use it to see the numbers on buses or horses, the writing on notice boards or scoreboards, the actors on stage...or just the children in the garden.
It focuses down to 26" so you could read your neighbour's newspaper on the train, or even use it as a magnifying glass if you have long enough arms.
